So How Do I Get to Heaven?

I’m so glad you asked! The Bible makes it clear that there’s only one way–Jesus. The glorious news of the gospel is that while we can’t earn our way to Heaven, Jesus already did everything necessary to earn it for us!

To get to Heaven, you must first know that you stand convicted before a holy God, worthy of eternal death (if you’re not there, take this test and see how you do). God is just–and He says in His Word that He won’t ignore sin. Just as a just judge on earth does not let a murderer off without just punishment, neither will God.

But God is not only just, He’s also loving. He sent His own Son, Jesus, to take our punishment for us.

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)

On the cross Jesus claimed all our sin–ever evil thought, word, motive, and deed–as His own and said “I did that.”

But in order for Jesus’s death to count as our punishment, we have to choose to repent–to turn from our sins–and to place our trust solely in Him. It’s not enough to say “I believe,” just like it’s not enough to say that we believe a medicine will do us good. We have to actually take the medicine. Likewise, we have to choose to place our faith in what Jesus has done and to turn from our rebellion against God.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

Heaven and hell are real–and we want to see you in Heaven! If you’ve not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ, today is the day. None of us knows when our life will end.

As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts…” Hebrews 3:15 (ESV)

Just call out to God in prayer. Tell Him you agree with Him that you stand convicted before Him. Tell Him you choose to trust Jesus.

It’s not about the prayer and what you say–it’s about choosing to trust Christ and repent from your sin. God sees your heart–and He promises if you seek Him with all your heart, you’ll find Him. He loves you and wants you to know His forgiveness!

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV)
